Could This Be True?

I wouldn't swear to the fact but I believe I have found an everglades racer in Osceola county Fl. They aren't known to extend this far north but from what I have been reading it fit the description perfectly. It's amidst a shed right now so I will wait and see but this could be a record.

I was just reading your post and was unaware what an Everglades racer looked like I figured I would look it up on the internet and came along this site. I hope the pics can help you after the shed.

After I recieved your email I came back and saw your reply. After looking at more pictures I have onliy confirmed my belief it was an everglDES. Oh well, I don't know if that would have made it worth anymore than the dollar I sold it for but it would have been neat to know.

That everglades has personal and locale value. Rather than money. Although you could have sold it for $15. I have had an everglades racer before, they are horrible captives! They remain aggressive and just don't eat. I do think they are pretty though, they kinda have a slate blue coloration. And believe it or not, they are a subspecies of the blue racer(Coluber constrictor foxii). And blue racers are gorgeous and do make good captives. Mine ate like a pig and was quit tame. If you find another everglades in your area, maybe take some pics and document it! William H.

I have pictures but unfortunately they werent taken with my digital and I don't have a scanner. I don't normally hunt in the area I found it, it is pretty populated. I found the racer by flipping a real estate sign behind a cvs. I plan to go out to that area in the spring to see what I can find.
