Super worms and Leopard geckos.

Sypha Nov 20, 2004 09:55 PM

I have a young leopard gecko, only around five inches long, which I have been feeding super worms, mainly because I don't trust crickets much anymore(Had too many parasite problems). And I am wondering if anyone has had any experience with a younger leo vomitting up their superworms? I'm assuming that because she ate five in a row, it might've caused her an upset stomach. They do have a harder exo after all.

But, has anyone else had similar experiences? Should I try to wean her to mealworms until she is larger?

that mght be it, or she might be ill. i've had geckos vomit from parasites, infection, over-eating, and out of fear/stress. i would personally suggest (if you've got the fundage ) to feed silkworms. i love them, and they have no exoskeleton, and they naturally have the correct balance of calcium to phosphorous. i'd also suggest taking it to the vet, if you can. with one of my geckos, vomiting was the only warning i had before she passed on, and i will never forgive myself for 'waiting to she if she got better.'

Yea, I would love to get some silkworms, but my darn card expired and the Postal office botched my address, so I haven't gotten it yet.

Thanks for the input.

This is the exact same problem that I had with my new gecko, though she was not young, she would eat the superworms and puke them up, and someone told me that they could be too big for her, but she did the same with mealworms, a week later she was perfectly fine, I believe it had to do with stress issues cause i took her to the vet and she is perfectly fine
