Hi all,

I am currently renovating my waters enclosurer. It is going quite well but I have a question...

How should I mount a 250w ceramic heater. I have a porcelain socket and mounting box. However, the box becomes very hot (you can touch it, but not for long). The roof of her cage is the wooden floor of my iguana's enclosure (its an over-under type). I feel that the box gets to hot to be in direct contact with the wood. Am I worried for no reason or not?

So far I have: 1-mount the box hanging slightly from screws so there is a 1/4 to 1/2" gap.

2-hang the box from a mounting bracket that is used mainly for ceiling fans creating a 1" gap.

3-place fire retardant insulation on top of the box and do one of the 2 above, or, screw straight into the plywood.

It will be protected so my water can't come in direct contact with the ceramic bulb, probably some type to hardware clothe or some other means, but no worries there.

Any ideas on mounting? Thanks in advance.
