commercial cricket gutloads thoughts needed?

jakejeff Jul 01, 2003 01:13 AM

I have been keeping leo's for about a year and have been gutloading my crickets with fluckers cricket water w/ calcium and fluckers cricket food I was wondering if this was a good idea and how everyone has found these products for leo's? I was considering switching the cricket water to patatoes/carrots but if the waters are not a problem then i will just stick to them? please any thoughts ideas suggestions are apreciated!

sounds good. if it's working for you, keep it up. i've used commercial gutloads before, i don't think that one though, and they worked wonderfully. i forget which it was, but it was the one that is green squares.

I have 3 different gut-loads listed on my website. Look under 'care'

I give all my feeder insects baby cut carrots for water/moisture. They do not mold as some other fruits/veggies may.

With the gut-load that I have been using, my geckos are more vibrant, healthy, they gain real good weight, and seem more active/alert. I personally liek the gut-load that I use, and wouldn't use anything else. Thats just me. If you are interested, its there on my website, so just take a look. If you have any questions, let me know.

I have also been using both those products and like them very much but I do change it up a bit, like sometimes I skip the water gel and throw in a baby carrot.I have heard that you should give your crickets a variety, gives whatever your feeding the crickets to some variety.

I use the Walkabout Farm cricket gutload along with veggies and a slice of orange as their water source. I personally like Walkabout Farm's product since Dr. Donoghue keeps many reptiles herself and she is a herp nutritionist. The orange and veggies keep the crix fat & juicy.
