MORPH QUESTION ?????

S1NPLYS1K Nov 21, 2004 01:11 AM

i was doing some more research on leo genetics and am now questioning which type of albino she is...i've seen a few pictures and can't decide whether it's a rainwater albino or the tremper we were discussing before when i originally asked...anyway...the more i research the more confused i get lol

i personally still think she's a tremper...but a 2nd opinion never hurts ;]

thanks!!

these days, you cannot tell what strain of albino a leo is unless you know its background or until you breed it.

where did you get him/her from? If you got it from a petstore, it probaby is a tremper.

yea i got her from petco...i noticed petstores have for the most part what appear to be trempers...although i saw an adult rainwater tremper the other day...but yea i got her from a petstore

Gourmet Rodent which supplies most of the Petcos only works with trempers. So yours is probably a tremper.

Rainwater Tremper??? The petstore sells double hets? Maybe I lost you somewhere. I know that all of the petcos I've been to here have Trempers.

ok...so it's agreed...she's a tremper...i was just shooting the rainwater tremp @ you due to some coloration similarities...but yea we'll go with tremper unless aging proves otherwise ;D

Thanks!

i think you are saying 'tremper' when you mean 'albino.' there are three different strains of albino- tremper, bell, and rainwater/las vegas. a rainwater tremper would be one that is homozygous for both, which, to my knowledge, has not been produced/proven to have been produced yet. 'albino' means lacking in melanin. 'tremper,' 'bell,' and 'rainwater' are just the last names of the first three breeders to produce albinos. so far, to my knowledge, the rainwater & tremper strains have proven to be controlled by different genes. i do not know about the rest.

i really doubt you saw an animal that was both a tremper & a rainwater albino. is that what you meant?
