Its similar to Atheris in its ability to absolutely hammer the blood chemistry. However it doesn't have any neurotoxicity, unlike the Atheris squamiger venom we looked at which was actually quite reasonably neurotoxic.
Antivenom is anyone's guess. I've heard Echis antivenom batted around as a possible cross-reactivity match for Atheris (and by implication Proatheris) but haven't seen any data yet to support this.
