Does anyone know of a good way to remove a snake from a sticky trap?

I've heard of sticky traps being dangerous to snakes because they can roll around in them and possibly suffocate.

Just what i heard.

I've removed a gecko that was stuck pretty badly on a sticky trap with a LOT of olive oil. You gotta be extremely careful of course, but it definately works.
