My female, about 30" long ... ravenous mouse eater, scented adults! Fur included! These are great snakes.

My Florida Banded (pictiventris) have similar dorsal and ventral patterns. The male of my pair is the only one with red on the sides as your picture shows. My old female (over forty inches long) had the same colouration except she had the classic red and black, "wormy" pattern on her belly.

That is a Florida Watersnake (Nerodia fasciata pictiventris). Nice snake!

Hmmm. I was told it was a blotched water. I have not done any real research into waht it might be as I nearly got out of water snakes altogether. I now have my interest sparked with them agian after seeing all the albino waters. I want to start a breeding project with them before they become popular like the corns. I realy think in a few years people will be more in to them. I do not understand why people like corns more. To me corns are just so boring. I would like to be one of the original people who started with water snake breeding. So now my interests are set on 2 things. 1.) retics 2.) waters. that is it. Oh pierson, do you ever come across any adult red bellies? I have not got the money right now after buying my 12' retic and mice and rats but I would be interested in some before long. Oh and thanx for the ID. I have another one of those little guys too. I am going to probe them as soon as I get off my lazy butt and get the jelly stuff. Oh, I know this aint the retic forum but I had to le3ave this pic whiel I was posting anyways.
