A week ago, I went out into the creek bed to pick up some large, flat slate and some smaller round rocks to use as gravel in a
soon-to-be goldfish tank. I thoroughly cleaned the rocks and placed them in the tank. And this morning, astounded, I
see a tiny, newly-morphed american toadlet swimming around in there! He must have been in a crevice in one of the slate rocks. Since he was fully morphed, and the tank water was just wellwater with no salt or chlorine, I let him go in the yard. Guess I need to be more careful when I go rock collecting.
