Gigantic mistake made

froghut Nov 21, 2004 10:39 PM

I am very embarrassed, but I guess it happens. The frog I have been calling a Albino Dwarf African Bullfrog is really a Albino Chinese Bullfrog (Rana rugulosa)

Today I was studding his body structure and after a full evening of research I realized I was wrong. The dealer I bought it from is a very well know and honest business, so they must have been duped as well.

Well a similiar thing has happened to me, but I made a bigger mistake. I bought a lizard beliving it was an African Housegecko (Hemidactylus Mabouia) from a local petstore. I kept it as a Housegecko aswell, nd I found it a bit odd that it couldn't climb the glass. It never ate very well. I sold it about 2 years ago.
I pretty recently found out that it most likley was a Cyrtopodion scaber, that is a desert gecko.
The pictures I had seen of Housegeckos didn't really match the on I had, but they looked somewhat similiar.

I know that Benne Seigel rep. had them advertised on kingsanke for a while and that was the only place I had ever seen them, that is why I asked.
