I found this black and white pic from 1970 of my dad's favorite spot. It's an easy one.

You nailed it Wayne. It looks a lot different now. A lot more vegetation.

That's north of Blair's hill alright.

Remember the mts in the background? Of course not Wayne. That's because you've always had your eyes on the road!!! LOL!!! Cheers, Hugh

And that's absolutley correct!! I remember the first time I took that road back in the early 80's, I only went 3 miles down it and turned back because I had no idea where it went, and it was rough as hell. Later, I met Buzz Ross in Ft. Davis and told him about the road. He said that this is where I Fu** up. I should have gone all the way to the river and back. He also said the Gray Bands looked like a fan belt in the road as I had never seen one at that point, so I did not know what to expect. Well, low and behold, next time I went down the road, the first thing I saw was just that. a nice black fan belt laying across the dirt. About a 4 footer. I always wondered if ol' Buzz was hiding out over the hill laughing! Since that time, I have caught only 4 on that road. (3.1), and all ugly dark phases!

Wow! I wasn't born yet in 1970! I have only hunted the road once. I was having a good trip finding alterna and wanted to try and find a hognosed snake for a change of herps. I went up to Pandale dirt that night and found two alterna instead. I was bummed but, happy at the same time. I didn't get the hognosed snake. I find an adult male dark Blairs right on Blairs hill and an adult female med Blairs at Harkell(?) Draw. Because of that night I have not returned and most likely won't. To many good memories on that magic night. Great topic, guys!

Yeah, I hunted there for the first time in 78. My first one in the area came from Juno and the bridge area on 90. I miss hangin' at the Everett Ranch up by the crossing. Used to be friends with the proprieters at the time in the early 80's. When I was an aggie (yeah... I admit it!!) they would let us stay out there for free. Blairs hill area seems to reward everyone sooner or later.

Hey Rick.... Isn't that true? Or should I say, Hey Melissa??

Those beauties do look different on the road though. No doubt.

Don't ever feel like you can't admit you're an Aggie dude!!! There are a lot of us. Gig em and let us whoop some serious t.u. ass on Friday!!! You know what they say is true. What do they call an Aggie after graduation? BOSS!!
