Hi i was at reptibid and saw this auction, I'm very curious if it is a really white/black throat monitor. I've only own blackthroat and I never seen a blk/wht before, here's the link to the site;

Hi,
I tried both links and they did not work. The region in Africa where they cross from equatorial to southern latitudes are in a few places where both can be found. In northern Malawi/S. Tanzania near Qualimane you can have both; and this is where the areas of cross occur, although the cross overs do not go very far into the others respective ranges....There are V. albigularis forms that are bizarre patterned, on the Orange River bordering RSA and S. Namibia, in northern Zambia and a few other places....

cheers,

The reason your link will not work is KS doesn't allow links to other classifieds. However if anyone wants to see it just use the link but replace the bleep with www . repti bid . com without the spaces and it will work.

Here is what the seller says about it, haha

"Black/White Throat Monitor. It is 3ft and nice weight. Not over weight but just right. This monitor will hiss at you and if cornered may whip its tail. Has never tried to bite. Eats live or frozen mice or rats. Great animal and will make a great breeder or Pet."

That monitor pictured certainly is not nice weight nor is it the right weight. I am suprised it has enough energy to tail whip.

What I see is a very sickly looking blackthroat. I would say a fresh import. Dehydrated, malnurished and very weak looking.

Hi Jody,
As you know, Sadly, this is more common than not, and an everyday occurence within the pet trade. No wonder the Peta and SPCA people dislike reptile distributors/wholesalers as they do; but the afore-mentioned peta people are draconian $%^R#@!@##$ in my book. SPCA do some good, but they too have their hand in the cookie jar as well, like all beaurocratic SOB's.

cheers,
markb
