New UVB mystic bulbs?

iggyluver Nov 22, 2004 02:11 PM

I saw these advertised on the top of the first page of this website. I took the like to this site

http://www.bigappleherp.com/Reptile_Supplies/Product/UVB_Mystic_Fluorescent_Light_Series_262300.html

and read the info on them. They seem great, because they are half the price of the MV bulbs, but dont produce heat. Also they run on a few less watts than the ReptiSun or IguanaLight 5.0. But i am a little hesitant to be the first to try them, what do you all think about them??? any comments are welcome!

Thanks, Mark and Kiwi

Yeah, I saw those too. THey look great, though I too am hesitant to buy one. I haven't been sold yet on the whole compact flouecent UV bulbs. I just don't see how they can have such a high UV output and I can't seem to find any info on how long the UV lasts. I know the regular compact flourecents last for like five years, so I guess after its stops producing UV, you can have a good bulb for a few years. I think that I might just get one. Its a good alternitive to the MVB's. Josh

they also have the standard sized bulbs, that is what i am looking at. But im not sure how safe they are, so im gonna wait a good six months untill next time his bulbs need to be replaced, and just stick to the good ol' reptisun 5.0
