i added more cypress mulch and did away with the cave and log thing and put in a cork bark strip on the side.

I read somewhere that cypress mulch *may* leave splinters in the eyes, nostrils (nares) and mouth area in lizards.

I would be more worried about to much moisture. Ackies are desert monitors, I'd change substrates asap!
