Anyone that posts here do as I do...pass by a junk pile, and look at the items in it and think to themself..
Hey that would make a great... for my herps?
C'mon, fess up...we know everyone here does that.

I constantly look for good junk! Yesterday I sniped a frig for an incubator. I will post pics when its done. I have it striped down and am getting ready to cut the glass door into it and then sand down the entire thing and paint it up. After the paint drys I will start adding the heat, fans and thermostats. One mans trash is another mans treasure!

Hahaha

Happy junkin,

With me, it's electrical stuff...boxes, wires, switches.
Even bulbs. I'll scrounge what I can.
I even had someone offer me a fairly new iguana cage that they were throwing out. One of those big ones that look like the fancy parrot cages.
In my job, people offer me all kinds of pet supplies. They know I breed dogs, and keep herps. So I'm not above saying no.
I've gotten plenty of glass tanks that way.
It would be too sad for me to see them in the trash!

helping to build a house, a neighbor had an old fiberglass shower in their backyard, all in one piece. The SECOND I laid eyes on it, I pictured it with a solid glass front and a lamped ceiling, mounted in the corner of my snake room full of tropical plants and red eyed tree frogs. IT was the most vivid day dream I've ever had. Running, water, the whole 9 yards man.....

junk is like dandylions, could be trash or could be treasure, it's all in the eye of the beerholder

It was a console TV. Saw it on the side of the road on the way home from a friends house and I stopped and had the wife help me load it . When I first built it, it had my female Carpet python in it, but when she outgrew it, my Corn snake moved in. I sold it to a friend before I moved to AZ this spring. This is what the carpet moved in to.

C'mon, I'm the guy who has turned garbage cans and storage totes into display cages. I think of these things all the time.

I'm more of a thift store guy, however. I get a kick out of turning furniture into display cages. I've not done that in years, though.

Hmmm....

Old TV stands, bookshelves, and small buffet tables. All can make great cages. Heck, just look at the post further up this thread. I really get a kick out of seeing work like that (nice job if that poster is reading this post).

Here's a link I just dug up for Crtoon. This is not my work but might get your mind working.
