my female phantasticus has been lurking at the bottom

hopefully this means shes finally gonna lay me those eggs ive been waiting for! ever since last night i noticed she was moving around the bottom of the cage, i first noticed her near the bromeliad. earlier today she was perched over a vine right near the bottom of the enclosure, and later i found her laying on top of the moss in a conspicuous pose. makes me think that tonight will be the night, or at least hopefully sometime soon. shes super fat so im hoping this isnt a disappointment!

My female pietschmanni started hanging around the bottom of her cage about 2 weeks before she layed eggs so don't be disappointed if you don't get some anytime soon. Anyway thats great news I hope you get some eggs!!!!!

oh man i have been waiting so long for a second season of success, and finally it has come! i just caught a glimpse of one perfectly round orb beneath the pothos leaf under which i found my female sleeping this morning. i was thinking that the longer she wasnt laying the harder she was trying to prove me wrong that she wouldnt lay any eggs. nonetheless they're here, and hopefully this means there will be more clutches to come this year, as well as hopefully a CB female so ill finally be able to work on breeding a second generation of these buggers in a year or two. im so excited! now id just like some advice from other people on how to hatch these. several of you might remember how i hatched my first 3 by using a little screen cube placed at the bottom of the enclosure. im thinking that approach, even though successful, might have been a little too dry. anyone use vermiculite or perlite or any other substrates like that? oh man i cant control myself. pics will be up soon, of course.
