juvenile beardie acting bizarre

kit10 Nov 22, 2004 07:56 PM

Ok.. So I've had my baby about 5 months now & I've recently noticed that he seems to act a little bit odd sometimes. Most of the time he cruises around perfectly fine, but occasionally he walks like he's kind of drunk, & will fall over or assume a completely awkward position with one of his legs in the air or folded underneath him. It's only sometimes.
Still, he's growing like a weed, sleeping normally, eating like a pig and acting perfectly friendly and active like any other bearded. My setup is a 20gal with a heat lamp & a full spectrum UV strip light, newspaper-lined & with grapevine & rocks for basking. He eats dusted medium crickets like they're going out of fashion, and every 3 days he gets a salad of collard greens, carrots, mango, and squash. I mist him twice a day & I add ExoTerra's Electrodize to the water. I'm trying like heck to get him to the vet but there's only one good herp vet in RI & he's tough to get an appointment with. So.. if anyone has any ideas what this might be, I'd really appreciate any info!

i remember reading a thread a few lines down that informed us of a beardie that was acting the same way.

InTheBlue said this following message that may help you:
Sometimes coccidia can cause them to act disoriented and dizzy if the levels are extreme. he also added that stress can increase the coccidia levels... so you might want to get the beardie checked.

i'm not too sure if that's the exact cause, but its very similar to the other one. if you'd like to see the thread, it is: forums.kingsnake.com/view.php?id=635999,635999

good luck!
