Yellows

corbin Nov 22, 2004 08:40 PM

Hey everyone, I am looking for some basic info on yellows. I was wondering what would I look at paying for hatchlings? What are cage requirements, do they need massive amounts of water, since they live in that sort of habitat in the wild? How big of a snake am I looking at here? What do you all feed your adults? I am no beginner, I just know almost nothing about yellow annies. I own burms, so I know what large snakes can be like, I have been bit. I have delt with all the negatives of owning large snakes. I am just looking for basic info on the yellows. Any info is welcomed.

Thanks,
Corbin

well if u ever see a hatchling conda for sale run away, lol i could not help my self u set me up. ok a good feeding cb babie will run around 200 and up u might find a deal cheeper but thats the norm. a cage for a abaie should be a 10g or a 20 long. they do not need a large water dish humidity should be around 70% and temps should be around 80 degrees with a 85 degree hot spot. a female will be 14 while a male will be 10 feet. adults can be feed rabbits or a bunch of rats like dfr dose. condas are different then any snake u will ever own there not like any other snake out there. i do not recamend them to anyone personaly, i feel they are a very needy and by far the most fustrating of all snakes to work with. a conda can be a great animal or a complete nightmare. u really need to be deadicated to the animal.
hopes it help there are many other good snakes out there

Yellows in my opinion are one of the best snakes you can own. I have been breeding yellows for about 6 years now. Normal price for cbb tends to be anywhere from 75.00 up to 200.00.

Feeding them has never posed a problem (unlike E. murinus unless that is just me). They can be startyed off on rat pups, mice, or even peeps. I like feeding rat pups personally because I breed rats and always have a steady supply of pups. Unlike the murinus, they do not have a type of feeding habit where if you feed them hamsters, they will take nothing else. My adults will take guinea pigs, rabbits, rats, or chicken. They even take the chicken from the meat section of the supermarket.

Sizes are females up to 11' (for a large one) while males are much smaller. My breeder males are only about 4.5-5' long and very slender. My largest females are also not very good breeders either. The best breeder females are about 6-7' in length.

Temperature is maintained at 80-82F during the day and about 78 in the evening. They seem to be much more cold tolerant then my murinus.

I hope this was of some help, Peter

Thanks a lot you guys, I think I have made up my mind. I think I will get one in a few years, I have hands and all spare room full with burms right now. But, I do have a question. Do they really stay that small, I have heard that annie are quite large, or is that just the greens?

yellows are smaller then greens but still get large females in the 14 range and males in the 10 range.
