Night Glo moonlight lamp?

Jip Nov 22, 2004 09:44 PM

I have read that GTP prefer 12 hours of complete darkness. Lately I have been having a hard time keeping my temp high enough. I use the Night Glo moonlight lamp for my knob tails. Would it be ok for GTP? Any suggestions on heating at night would be great. Thanks
Jip

what kind of heating do you have? What my setup entails is a 18 inch flourescent light (undercabinent light from home depot) on a timer, and for heating i use a radiant heat panel. You could also use a blacklight for heating...or a red light...red is really preferred because snakes can't see it.

I'm using an under tank heater to keep the ambient cage temp at 78. During the day I have a 100 watt light bulb. It keeps the temp in the basking area up around 88. I actually just purchased a ceramic infrared heater today for at night.

The moonlight lamp is supposed to simulate natural moonlight. It gives off a soft blue glow, not as intense as a normal red or blue light bulb. Just wasn't sure if it would stress out my GTP.
Cheers!
