How do I trust this ? what should I do

bigdee Nov 23, 2004 01:30 AM

Someone has something for sale that im looking for and its at a good price. They are not a big breeder and I cant find any info where u would look up scammers. From what I understand from prior purchases from other breeders is my garantee was simply a receit, how will this garentee something (hets) ? If the animal does not prove out does this receit garantee mean you can take them to court or something? I know i want to become a breeder and that all honest breeders are not big breeders so How do I be safe? I think I heard something before about getting copy of drivers license or something like that.

Ask them for references. Then verify those references.
You can lookup those references also to see if people generally
have good or bad things to say about those people. Take
everything you read online with a grain of salt.

Ask them for a full name and a phone number. Call them at that
phone number and talk to them (to convince yourself that a) they
sound like they know what they are talking about, and b) so that
you have another way of contacting them if you have any problems
with the animals/etc.)

Ask for pictures of the animals. Ask for CURRENT weights, so
you know exactly what you are getting. Everyone has their own
opinion as to what 'huge' or 'high yellow' or whatever. However,
nobody can argue what 1000g means.

Ask them to email your their guarantee policy so you know what
they are promising and you have it in writing.

If you have other specific questions (about guarantees/etc) you
should ask them so that everything is clear upfront.

Good luck!
Chris
