Finally got one of my new racks set up..

KelliH May 15, 2003 02:05 PM

I really like these new racks. They are made with a very sturdy plastic material, they look great (this particular one is set up in the living room) and the heat cable is working out fine too. I can't wait to get the others set up. It just takes so darn long to burn all the holes in the rubbermaids, LOL. Here's a quick pic.

Thanks! It is a sweaterbox rack, I house the adults seperately in sweaterboxes. I keep all of my hatchlings in shoebox size racks, keeping clutchmates together until they are around 20 grams, then they each get their own. I generally move them into sweaterboxes when they hit the 35-40 grma mark.

I got the rack from a company called Animal Plastics.

Did you put down the aluminum tape to get heat under the box, or is it working O.K. as is? I'm thinking of getting a couple, but waiting to see how they work out for you first.

I was sceptical at first but it is keeping the back half of the box right around 89. I still am going to do some experimenting with foil tape to see if I can get more "belly heat" but either way I think they will do just fine.

I have a habitat systems rack with 11" wide down the back of the rack. I HATE IT! I much prefer the 3" run under the boxes. I have an idea for a real simple way to build racks. I'm going to biuld one soon, I'll keep you all posted. So, run foil tape from the surface of the heat tape to the bottom of the shelf?

Just to let everyone know the two racks I ordered from them has the radiant heat cable running under the back part of the tub. I guess this could be a new feature (not sure). This setup is working great for me. Here is a link to the their web page

It is very quick to use as long as you are careful. The smell gets to be a bit much but everything else is great.

We just put one together from Animal Plastics and are very happy with the quality of the rack system. They are also very nice people to work with.

How long did it take them to get that rack sent out to you?

Uriah (Geckoville) and I are both waiting on racks from the same guy... way overdue.

I ordered my racks from a different individual all together...

Its a 42 box shoebox rack, over a month overdue and counting.

I'm getting pretty close to canceling my order with this guy and possibly buying a few of the racks from animal plastics.

They look pretty neat. I wouldn't mind housing all my breeders individually, do you have plenty of room for the lay box in your individual set ups?

I would love to see a pic of your setup for laying females in those containers if you get a chance sometime.

I plan on starting a rack for my leos because right now i just have all kinds of tanks and want one for the babies. Why are you burning the holes the in the containers? how are you heating it? did you just buy heat tape and put it on the bottom and set it up with a couple cords and then into the outlet?
