Big big snakes biteing.

bigwizzkid Nov 23, 2004 11:56 AM

I have never ben constricted bye any of my snakes. They have just never done it. Bitten of course, but that comes with the territory, easpecially with hungry animals. Anyway, the real point of my question. With large snakes that can be potentially very dangeous if they start constricting, or depending on where they restrict just a pain in the butt. What alchohol is used for persuading them to stop? I was assuming rubbing alchohol, but I really have no clue. I've never ben constricted so its just never ben something ive worried about. But I like to be prepaired for the worse, even if the worse never comes. So what type of alchohol is recomended?

cold water usually works and is less painful to snakes....

i have only used alcohol once, and it was a 10 foot burm....she missed a rat that i was hand feeding her (i know i know) and got my hand and wrapped me to my elbow.....the more scared she became the harder she squeezed......it was all instinct....she realized she did something not right....i wasnt a rat lol.....the alcohol was a last step....after 15 minutes.....and it only took a quick squirt

keep it handy (regular 70% rubbing alcohol)....but dont use unless its absolutely necessary.....be sensible

I'm not sure I want popular opinion on my side -- I've noticed those with the most opinions often have the fewest facts.

My snakes and I both enjoy Kettle One. Not the cheapest, but a premium taste and smell. Reccomend a mixer and ice.

id rather have a strong friend with me more than some alcohol. if a burm or retic constricted on you i dont think youd have time to even try to get the cap off. although if you had the cap off you just might be able to get a good shot of jack before ya go
