socializing blackthroats

varanidfan Nov 23, 2004 06:54 PM

i have a pair of blackthroat monitors. Here is the problem. My male i raised as a very young juvi with a similar sized savannah monitor, i bought a female of the same size as the male who has been kept solitary for her whole life. Is it possible to socialize her or is the damage already done? I put them together under supervision, he is not bothered by her, but she tries to dominate him often trying to bite the back of his neck. I guess my question is will introducing them every couple of days eventually socialize her or is the damage already done? I keep him with a similarly sized female white throat monitor, for now but i really would love to have the pairs together.
thanks

This is a bit like Ms and I arguing, there is no answer from the talk, you can only do it, the answer comes from real life doing it. You will have to adjust as you go along. Sometimes they get along without problem, sometimes not. Even at that, they can change.

They are at set in stone, they are living creatures. Good luck FR
