Vet visits are ultimatly the best way to ensure your pets health. It also helps to quarentine new pet reptiles for a period of at least 4 months before allowing them to come into contact with the rest of your collection. Many reptilian diseases are capable of laying dormant (or undetected) for long periods of time. Always wash your hands before and after you handle them (if you handle your chameleons). Clean their cages as ofen and regularly as possible. Exposure to fecal matter is the primary means of parasite transmition. Prevent your chameleons form comming into contact with other animals (like your friends chameleon for say)! Do not allow them to forage around outside unsupervised and only feed them insects bred for feeding reptiles. Do not feed them chrickets, worms, etc. from outdoors. Also, regular fecal exams are always a plus. Happy holidays and Good luck!
