Sasheena say it aint so...

Keith Hillson Jul 01, 2003 10:54 AM

I saw your post in the hybrid forum. All I can say is why ??? To do something just to see what happens IMHO is reckless as hybrids are a danger to the hobby regardless of what hybrid breeders would have you think. Ive never seen a hybrid thats more beautiful than the original natural animal. I dont mean to bust your chops here as maybe you are unaware of the dangers these hybrids can create within the genetic population of natural snakes.

I prefer to know what the hell is going on with hybrids. How does the ol' proverb go "keep your friends close and your enemies closer" . A little extreme but you get the idea.

so hybrid breeders are your ENEMY?(seems kinda harsh?),,,yet you keep them close hmmm and do so to find out what the he!! they are doing?thats farout man, thanks for the reply i guess??? ,,,,thomas

The reason I don't mess with any hybrids is because of credibility. If I ever have some ground breaking new mutation pop up in my collection I don't want people accusing me of crossing species. I never buy anything off of anyone that I have ever seen selling hybrids. I'm not against people doing it. I just don't trust the people who do do it.

I said after the proverb that it was a little EXTREME . Did you only read half of the post ? Of course they arent my enemies dude chill out and take stuff with a grain of salt. Its no secret here on these forums I despise hybrids but as far as people breeding them personally I dont despise them just their lack of judgment. Do you understand now ?

well thanks keith but i am "chilled out" i did read your whole post i just find it very ODD that someone so against hybrids reads the hybrid forum?,,, why not take hybrids/hybrid breeders with a grain of salt?,,,anyway hows them baby easterns you hatched?,,,,,,,,,,thomas

well thanks keith but i am "chilled out" i did read your whole post

If you read it then you saw my comment on it being an "extreme example" in other words its an exagerration I in fact will not declare war on them nor are they my enemies. When someone says its an extreme example or an exagerration then one cant come along and say HEY THEY ARE YOUR ENEMIES!?!? unless of course someone didnt understand the spirit of the email. So when I say chill out I mean dont take my anology so seriously.

i just find it very ODD that someone so against hybrids reads the hybrid forum?

Whats odd about it ? I also read the Pine and the Cribo forum and I dont keep any off those snakes. I already told you I would like to keep up on whats being "frankensteined" these days. For example if someone came to me and said "Dude check out this new sweet Hypo Sinaloan Milk, wanna buy it ?" well maybe if I was paying attention to the Hybrid boards I would know this animal is a outcross with a Hypo Honduran or Pueblan. So it pays to keep your eye out and not to live in a bubble which is easy to do.

why not take hybrids/hybrid breeders with a grain of salt?,,,anyway hows them baby easterns you hatched?,,,,,,,,,,thomas

Why not take anything harmful with a grain of salt then like the destruction of the Amazon or Rattkesnake roundups etc... Its something I believe to be harmful so of course I would not take it with a grain of salt. On another note the baby Easterns are doing great . I have not tried to feed them yet as they have all just shed yesterday.

Keith

well im not into "hybridizing" kinda just nuetral on the subject, and quite frankly was just curious as to why someone so against hybrids reads the hybrid forum?like i said before thanks for your response?i guess?,and i suppose its all in opinion i just think hybridizing snakes for hobby is hardly as impt. as the amozon,or rattlsnake roundups, but really dont want to get in the debate of hybridizing as i do take hybridizing w/a grain of salt,,,congrats on the baby easterns post some pics!!! myl.g.getula were just laid 3weeks ago,i was curious if your eastern eggs had any nodules on them?or smooth i had 1 femalel.g.getula lay a good clutch all the eggs have lil nodules on them much like racer eggs?only getula eggs ive ever seen that have the lil nodules? i will try to get a closeup pic of them,,my temps are averaging 78/79 so im sure mine will be longer than 46days i have yuma eggs at 65days allready!,,,,, thomas

Dude you seriously frustrate me. I didnt compare destroying the Amazon to Hybridization I simply lumped it in with things I think are bad. Is stealing a thousand dollars and killing someone equal ? No of course not but they are both bad right ? Get it both bad but one is much worse same thing with Amazon destruction and Hybridization.

Ive never seen nodules on King eggs before. Where they there right after laying or did they devolope after a period of time ? It might be a mineral defiency in the female that didnt allow the eggs to calcify correctly but it shouldnt affect the embryo's. I took same crap pics of the Easterns but have to download them off the camera. When are new pics of your big Eastern coming out ?

Keith

thomas davis Jul 03, 2003 06:35 PM

well the nodules have been present since laying they are very much like racer eggs in they are allmost like sandpaper,so much so if i had discovered eggs like this in the wild i would assume racer eggs, there again it is a w/c female in my care for 2 years now eats great could possibly be some mineral deffeciancy though she is a big girl approx5ft(4when i got her) did not breed last year and this year she bred w/cleo layed 13eggs all looked great within 3days though i could tell 6 were infertile(slugs) the other 7 are great just have these nodules on them? none of my other getula eggs have this nor have i ever seen it aside from racer eggs? i will get some pics soon ,,,,thomas
