Runny Stool...?

Chrysemys Jul 01, 2003 10:56 AM

Hey,
I just got my first dargon on Sunday. Well he took a poo for the first time this morning and it looked runny. The turd itself was not runny, there was just a watery stuff around it. Is this normal. Could it have been something he ate? He as eaten dusted crickets, romaine, carrots, and a little endive.
Thanks,
Chris D.

i would get him to eating a salad with a base of collard greens, and you can add endive, escarole, mustard greens, some kale some collard greens , squash etc. I would also definatly get a fecal done for your new dragon, jsut to rule out parasites. There can be a little liquid that will be with the feces and the urates, its pretty normal, but still getting a fecal sample to the vet wouldnt hurt, just to make sure your new lil guy is off to a good start =) best of luck with him!

Thanks, I think it might have been the crickets because I fed the crickets iceberg, which will give him a runny stool. I will be sure to stop feeding the crickets iceberg and get some collards tonight for him. Thanks again,
Chris D.

You can feed your crickets the exact same things you feed your dragon. You can also add a dry premixed gutload or make your own. Borderview dragons has a nice gutload you can mix yourself.
