Why would he eat her tail off?

2DRAGONS Nov 23, 2004 11:14 PM

I have two dragons, still very young. They love each other, but the other day I think he ate her tail off.Not just a little,it's almost all gone.I work for a pet store and nobody knows why he would do that. Now she's sick and I don't know what to do.

Young beardies can become confused by the movement of cagemates and will on occasion bite tails or toes(nip). If the damage is bad enough infection can set in quickly so a vet visit for anibiotics is a good idea. Your little guy also needs to be in a seperate cage at least till she heals up(an injury often makes them a target for further attacks)

Most times, pet stores give out wrong info on beardies, can we ask how much you wree feeding them daily? ALso how old they are?

Sorry it took so long.Believe it or not, they do not know how old they are. They are both very young.I'd say one is about seven inches long and the other nine.If anything I feed too much.Crickets about every other day,and veggies like sprouts and greens every other day.I know it sounds stupid, but could he be teething or something?I just don't get it,they love each other.Oh,they get plenty of calcium also.I just switched them to a 75 gallon tank.He still picks on it sometimes. Thanks for the interest.
