Basking light question

shion Nov 24, 2004 06:04 AM

How long do you leave your basking light on?

The basking light should be left on during the whole days light cycle along with the UVA/B light. So during the summer a 12 hour light cycle and during the winter a 10 hour light cycle (what I do).

A note to add...the basking light may need to turn off for several hours a day when the house gets warm in summer. Run the basking light in the morning, maybe have a timer turn it off during the hottest part of the day (the cham won't be basking then anyway) and have it turn on again in mid to later afternoon. Or, you can use a lower wattage bulb.
