Ok, what do you do during the winter time if you have loss of power?

Where do you live? I often have power outages here in eastern Canada, but they generally don't last more than 5 or 6 hours.

For that time, I put hot water bottles in towels on the bottoms of the cages and let the heat rise up.

If you care to invest in a generator, which I believe I will do within the next year or two, it would be super-good! No problems at all besides a few hundred bucks spent.

If you have a veiled, he/she can go the few hours at 55F no problem. Any longer than a few hours and you should fill up those hot water bottles.

Btw how you would go about heating the hot water bottles: I use a fondue pot and flame. The fuel's about 5$ a bottle and will heat about 10 water bottles.

Other than that, try those "generator" batteries that you can plug into a working outlet and bring back home for several hours of heat/UVB.

Best thing to do: hope you don't get too much snow!

Also, if you are really looking at a long outage you can put your cham in a box with a towel or perch to grab, and keep the box next to you as you huddle on your couch! It's a good idea to build a good relationship with a neighbor who has wood heat just in case. The cham can go without UV lights for a few days in a pinch. Heat and hydration will be most important, so a warm humid box will get through the worst.
