Rex's slow shed, part 2

ChaoticCoyote Nov 24, 2004 11:12 AM

We mist Rex twice a day.

We take Rex for a swim every couple of days.

The blasted reptile won't finish his shed!

We acquired Rex just about a month ago, when he was in the midst of a full-body shed. Most of the old skin came off on its own. One arm had what looked to be two layers of old scales; these have sloughed off as well.

But he still has one un-shed patch on top of his head, and two on his side.

Any suggestion? My wife (jokingly!) suggested Oil of Olay...

This is what I do when my Ig is having a hard time shedding.
Mist him really well and DAB a finger TIP into baby oil, make sure NO OIL drips into his eyes, and put it on the spot that won't shed off. It helps for the ratained spike sheds too. The skin should come off by the next day or just repeat with the oil.

I soak mine in warm water and as soon as they come out of
the water I rub a little vaseline into the area. After a few
minutes I can usually get the shed off (not before it is ready
though)

Hope this helps
