Natrix tessallata more pics 1

This is the male very vocal as he huffs and puffs a lot a strang noise but he has never bitten or struck at me.

Hello again, Newearth. My N.natrix used to writhe, hiss and strike as well but would never bite. The first one I caught was a big female, scared the crap out of me until I realised that it was all show.
As for the red belly on the male, I have not heard of a sexual dimorphism (differences between male and female) with regard to colour in Tesselata. I suspect you're just blessed to have one that's a little bit different.
Are they reclusive or do they spend time out where you can see them, like sun-bathing without dashing off when you appear?
