Need help for new baby GTP!!

johnnyb Jul 01, 2003 11:34 AM

I just got this beautiful baby GTP about 2 weeks ago and still it has yet to eat. All of the cage req.'s are good, but she seems nervous when i approach her with the food. If anyone can help let me know before she dies. How long can babies go without food normally before it is unhealthy?

What color is the baby? Your chondro may be going through a shed cycle, which is hard to notice sometimes(especially in yellow babies). Most of the time animals will not eat during the week or so of the shed cycle. I wouldn't worry too much. I have one baby from a clutch that hatched March 23 that has only eaten 1 baby frog and 1 pinky. He has shed twice and still looks ok, just not as large as the siblings, which are about 4 times his size. Not to beat a dead horse, but this is another reason to by an established captive bred baby. Good luck.
