ONLY 4 OR FIVE FEET

shoplifter00 Nov 24, 2004 02:02 PM

I normally dont post on here but I always read the post, So yesterday I am making my usual rounds through the Memphis area pet stores. I made my rounds through a certain pet store (NO NAMES), When I observed a green burm hatchling going through a really bad shed with its eye caps still on just a bad shed. I asked the (REPTILE EXPERT) how big will a burmese get and The expert stated 4 or 5 feet at the most. I also asked Him what do they eat and he stated mice, rats, and crickets. At that point I told him that was odd mine is a couple of months old and it is already 4 1/2 feet long and it sure doesnt eat crickets, he then told me I had one of those rare burmese and it should only get up to 8ft at the most. At that point I am fire hot, then he has the nerve to put some crickets in the cage and say "look he likes them." I flipped my lid and asked for the manager and when he came out I went off on him about his (REPTILE RETARD) and the care his was giving the burm. The manager said "He is an expert in this field and knows what he is doing." So I just left in disgust and promised never to return. Thanks for listening. LARRY

Yea that will happen. I have to laugh at the look on the (EXPERTS) face when I tell him I should deck him for lying to my face like that. Ive been told that burms were bp's and will not outgrow 5ft. You gota laugh cause if not you will just get too angry.

There has got to be a way that we can correct the attitudes of these store owners who obviously care nothing about their stock. This does affect all of us because when the Reptile Retard (I liked that one) sells these animals to uneducated people, they become a statistic and fuel on the fire of those who wish to ban them!

Who can we call, write or strangle to keep these brain surgeons from ruining our hobby?

Anyone!

Yea that is hilarious but makes you want to smack the guy at the same time. There is this "exotic" pet shop by my house that has burms, boas, balls, and many species of herps (for a pet store). Some of them that Ive seen are swarmed with mites. I've brought it to the attention of the so called "reptile guy" and he assured me they were "working on it". Months pass and its the same. The snakes have battle wounds most likely from live prey I assume they toss in the enclosure. 80% of the herps dont have water. The humidity level has to be close to nothing judging by the millions of pieces of snake shed and RI's Ive seen the snakes experience. Ive called the ASPCA (or equivalent) and they claimed they have received complaints but gave me some lame excuse about them not being able to do anything or they already looked into it or something. It got me furious, but Im at the point that there is little I can do personally to resolve the situation so I hope for the best.

The mananger of the pet store must have thought his employee was Bob Clark or something, I mean he really believed that the burm enjoyed CRICKETS!!!!!!!! for the love of god give me a hammer so i can knock some sense into this (TARD). Everytime I think of it I want to go back up there and wait in the parking lot for both of them. The worse part was you could see the crickets biting the burm and that just put fuel in my fire. there's a Reptile/Tropical Fish "specialty"HA!)store near me,where the owner told a kid that Burms only grow to 8'!!Of course the owner of this shop had never owned a snake in his life, until he oppened the store.......REAL EXPERT!! I've heard alot of misinformation in Reptile shops, and from dealers at shows:"Yeah, these Black Throat monitors are CB" or "It deffinately eats"insert pic of skin and bones snake here!).It's the scumbags only out for the almighty dollar who are ruining it for the rest of us!! Sorry, just venting! LOL!!

take some pics to the store manager of big burmese. Also give him a list of sites with good care sheets for burms. Or call the humane society and have them taking from him.

Not sure calling Humane Society would help...might draw more unwanted negative attention to Reptiles. The store owner know's how big Burms get,he was being deliberately dishonest to make a sale!!

Call the owner out to customers as they enter.

Man! This is not cool. This has to stop. If it were dogs, they'd be all over it.

Is there a legal way we can picket in front of the store? No-one wants to purchase a sickly pet.

Lets see the name of the pet store....i see no reason to hide it...if they are selling burms and claiming they will only get to be 5ft that is a serious issue....people need to know who is doing that..
