Hi there:

As you probably know, I ordered a baby Chinese beauty snake. Unfortuantely, the company responded to tell me that they had run out of stock. Still, I had a nice new beauty setup ready, so I ordered a blue. It is a captive-bred hatchling PURE blue beauty. Its genes have not been messed around with like intergrading or anything. I ordered it last night. I am so excited!

very nice... i hope you konw that your blue has a potential of nearly 10 feet... 5 feet by one year of age. other than that i cant say much more but the fact i hope you're ready to get bit, because you will! Buy a 100 pack of latex gloves from home depot lol. You'll use 'em all!

So what is your setup like? right now mine is just in a basic 10 gallon tank, but within a month or so she'll be getting her nice big cage

Blues are great snakes. I've been working with them for several years now, and haven't regretted a single moment of it. My breeders, with exception for my LTC female are all quite sweet. Don't be discouraged if your young one is a bit jumpy, just be confident and move slowly untill he/she is used to you handling them. Of the 22 blue beauty offspring I produced this year I only had a couple that I would've even called nippy. My taiwans were a lot jumpier than my blues.

Let me know if you have any questions, I'd be more than glad to help. Congrats and let us know when you get your new little fella.

Hi there:

Yes, I know that I am getting a huge, furious beautiful snake. That is the idea. My setup is humid. It is a 10-gallon with lots of twigs and branches, rock ledges to climb on, a good water dish, lots of hides and plenty of naturalistic substrate to burrow in. It is cool, positioned sort of near the window, so its tank goes through a natural day/night cycle.

Dave,

Sounds like a pretty good set-up you got there. It'll out grow that 10 fairly quickly though, but for the time being it should suffice.

Oh, and you can rely on it being a "long" snake, but not a "large, mean" snake. My CB adults are about as calm as any of my corn snakes, more so in some cases. These snakes have an ability to sense your nervousness like no other snake I've worked with. If you handle them confidently, you won't have any problems at all.
