biggworm Nov 25, 2004 12:21 AM

However the only thing holding me back is thatI have always wanted a male.I want to buy a C.B but how can you VISUALLY sex a baby B.T.Is it the width of the base of the tail?Or is it the shape and size of the nostrils?I understand it isn't always 100% way to sex b.t's.SO any help would be appreciated.

I like b-throats also even though I don't have one now. I don't think there is any way to accurately sex them when they are young. Someone here may have a good guess for you though. I am just wondering why you have your heart set on a male. If it is the size thing, Shvar as a picture of a female bt/wt cross that is longer than I am tall.

Good luck in finding exactly what you want.

There are chameleons, pythons, and monitors in my jungle room.

Ashley, glad to see one of your posts. I would think that Robin at Pro Exotics would have a good feel of who is a male or female even at a young age. People say the same thing about Blue tongue skinks (that you can't sex them reliably). I am pretty accurate guessing their sex even at a young age. This is probably just like how you can look at a baby blood python and guess. At the least I would imagine you could buy a yearling from Pro Exotics with a guarantee. You would probably be better asking Robin. How are your bloods? I plan to send you some pics of my adults one day when I get some time.

Best of luck,

Howard.

folks are always calling wanting male/female babies and juvies, and i tell them i just can't guarantee it. i can do my best looking at head shapes, hemipenal bulges, etc, but the smaller the babies get, the harder it is, and there is never a sex guarantee

i think better to choose for visual color and pattern, temperament, biggest/smallest, best overall monitor (wisest choice, i think), other characteristics that we can easily compare and contrast
