Restless Veiled Chameleon

CollardGuy Nov 25, 2004 09:48 AM

I have a Veiled about 5-6 months old, she spends most of her day walking around the screen on the floor looking out. Most of the time she is colored normally, but she gets dark occasionally. What could be causing this behavior? I feed her well, dusting most of her crickets and grasshoppers well with 1/2 and 1/2 mix of Heptitive and Rep-cal just before feeding. She is well hydrated, I mist her cage 2 to 4 times a day. Could she just want more room? (She's in a 18" by 18" by 2' untill I can get a bigger one soon.)

That's much too small for a 5-6 month old veiled, male or female. Get her a bigger cage ASAP and make sure it's got lots of little roadways of branches around the place, with lots of foliage. Make the foliage thick enough so it takes a few seconds to find her. You don't need the thick foliage around the basking site, however, this is a fire hazard and she shouldn't be spending much of the day up there.

I am going to get a much bigger cage soon. Other than that she is fine.
