consider adoption before buying one from a petstore. There
are hundreds of great igs out there waiting for a second chance.

Rescues have every size and gender. I have 2 and both of mine
were adopted from animal shelters.

Puh-leeze consider it!

I don't know where you are but if in the states the Green Iguana Society lists igs from all over the United States.

I know there are more adoption sites. Maybe some of the other ig lovers here can list them too...

I found Forest on the Green Iguana Society's site & I knew I was giving him a better home than he had before & I WISH I had space to take in ALL the homeless green igs out there.

If you buy one, they'll replace it with another little fella who will also have no space to climb, no good food to eat, no vitamins, no suppliments & no love......

I think some of the happiest igs out there are adoptions. They seem to KNOW they have a new chance......

Good luck.

My big fat lovable adopted pain in the rear! LOL

i agree, i have 3 iguanas who were all adopted. here is each ones story...

max, my 5 ft guy, i adopted the person who had him didnt know what he got himself into, a week later he gave him to me.... that was five years ago.

brazil, a girl who i worked with, her child won him at a county fair about a year ago, she had no idea how to care for the ig and knew i had one so she brought him to me that night, brazil is about 2 ft long.

argentina... i took him in about a month ago,the family who had him didnt like him, they were scared of him, they gave him to me, and boy does he have one nasty atitude from not being handled.

its really sad to see people buying animals they have no idea how to care for then get tired of them and not know what to do with them..... i have heard of people here in this town setting igs on boxes at the animal shelter.
