Morph Market Season

CJBianco Nov 25, 2004 07:59 PM

Can any of you experienced breeders pinpoint the beginning of the "Buying Season" for Ball Python morphs?

I've noticed that prices have dropped drastically in the last few weeks (wondering if they'll rise again in the Spring), and I figure it's because nobody is buying right now -- money all spent on this season's projects, no doubt.

Please don't confuse "Buying Season" with "Selling Season". I'm pretty sure the Selling Season begins in the Spring when babies have begun hatching, but are the majority of people actually BUYING in the Spring (maybe to get the best/first picks of the season), or are they waiting until...say...Summer until they've sold their own morphs to pay for the ones they intend to buy. Confused yet?

Just trying to get a handle on this Ball Python market thing.

Thanks,
Chris

I think I know what your saying. I think the best "Buying Season" starts in Nov, and continues on until Feb of the following season. Right before everyone purchases lots of CH babies and our own clutches of the season hatch. Then "Selling Season" begins again.

I know I personally love "Buying Season". I think that's because I love buying though. Figure a woman that loves to shop, best time of the year for me.

It's a confusing question, I know.

Basically, I've guessed that this is the best time to buy a Ball Python, because people are offering special discounted prices. They need to sell the last of their 2004 stock in order to further invest in current breeding projects for 2005 hatchlings.

What I really wanted to know is when do the MAJORITY of buyers do their buying. If you're a buyer looking for a deal, now's the time. But I'd wager most have already made their purchases this year...hence the special discounted prices.

So...when do the MAJORITY of Ball Python enthusiasts make their purchases?

It's a confusing question, but I'm a confused person. =)

Thanks Again,
Chris
