Unfortunately, they don't last long outside of the terrarium. Look in corners, under the furniture, rugs and in house plants. In our climate (SE Idaho) I've lost a couple of thumbnails that have dehydrated within 15 minutes. It will depend upon the relative humidity in your area. Even the larger frogs can escape through incredibly small openings. I've had D. leucomelas lift the back plastic flap on the hinged glass tops and squeeze through, so I now tape these down.
In my experience, new frogs are always better started out in a small tank where you can surround them with food and watch them for a few weeks, whether you call this a quarantine period or a nursery tank.
