Medical supplies for crocodilians?

venomousviper04 Nov 25, 2004 09:34 PM

I was wondering if anyone has a list of medical supplies that could be used for treating injuries on crocodilians. I know that most abrasions and whatnot will usually heal themselves as long as the water is kept clean and whatnot but I just want to know some things that I could have on hand just in case. My two gators got into a scuffle, and one of them has a few minor cuts. Nothing serious though thankfully. I would appreciate anyones input.

I was told once by a vet that you could use Neosporin (speling??) on them, just like you would on yourself.

Thanks Archie,

I have contacted a bunch of veterinarians that were listed in Chris Dieter's book. One of them said that neosporin shouldnt be used. They said that if it was absorbed by the skin that it could cause problems with the animals kidneys or something like that. One of them said iodine, the other said not to use iodine, and one of them said silvidine. I am having a hard time getting definite answers. I appreciate your response. I will make sure I have all of that listed, on hand.
