Best thermostat for refrigerator incubator

XtremeXteriors Nov 25, 2004 10:02 PM

im tossing up between boaphiles ranco thermostat or the johnson's control thermostat they both look good but looks can be decieving i am building an incubator out of a fridge and i was probably going to use heat rope in 3-6 30ft increments to take the stress off the thermostat i need a thermostat that will allow me to set temp in 1/2 degree increments (ex 89.5) any help would be greatly appreciated

Check out the Herpstat, it has a specific incubator setting. Here is the manufacture's web site showing all the specs:

More heat rope isn't going to do any more or less stress to a thermostat.

I'd get a Helix. They rock.

And I'd use heat tape over heat rope if I had to use either.

I agree on the herpstat. I sell all 4 of the models mentioned, and the herpstat is the way to go even above the helix. On the herpstat you are buying the thermostat and not a name to go with it. I dont know about you but I do not ike paying 50 bucks to have a large company put there name on a box. And I also dont like waiting a month to have my product delivered. You can see them at

Hope this helps,

they can check each other?.......

and also use 3 thermometers........

.......they can help make sure they are all actually working / reading the proper temps......

(long ago...Boa Barn...I saw his incubator room....yes...a whole little room.......and he had 3 wafers all hooked together to check each other in case one would fail....

I have no idea what he uses now?.....(Paul Miles)....

it worked at the time....

I still just use Hova-Bators and 3 thermometers in each....I check each every few days or so.......(they haven't changed in yearssss)......
