Well my uro Buddy is gaining weight really good BUT his tail is still not fat. What's up with that. I don't think his mid section can get any bigger. Any ideas. His looks aren't to good due to his shedding (very pale and foggy looking) Can't wait until shedding is done (his head is only shedding). Anyways and input would be good.
He eats collard, escrole ,endive, dandelion green, water crest, sweet potato, squash, parsnip and some times fruit,cactus pad and lentils.

I believe the tail is the reserve fat - it may take a very long time for that to build back up. The poor guy probably used up everything he had before you got him. If you aren't planning to brumate him, you can offer green peas and a few waxworms now and then to help fatten him up faster. If he's going to brumate, he shouldn't have those for a few weeks before (the protein, I think).

buddy is such a big boy, it will probably take a while for him to get nice and plump on that tail. if it were me, i would not brumate him this year just so he can continue eating and gaining weight. i would hate for him to come out of brumation all skinny.
anyway, you know how the laws of nature work, boys want to be meaty and aren't and girls want to be skinny and aren't, lol

No brumation for Buddy. I am not doing it because I don't know how,not breeding and like you all said he needs to eat and get fat. Thank you for your imput.
