I have 3 little baby Gopher snakes (14-18" long), and I was wondering if astro-turf would be a good choice of subtrate. I am currently using news paper, but it has to be thrown away each time it is soiled where as astro-turf could be soaked, and washed. Also I think the astro-turf would be a better heat distributor and regulator for the under-tank heat pads.

personally, as someone who at one point swore by astrotruf, i must say it SUCKS! Every time your snake uses the bathroom, you have to take it out and spray it off, then about every 2 weeks you have to let it soak for an hour or 2 in vinegar to get the smell out. it's not absorbant at all..so if your snake gets underneath, then it will be crawling in its pee and all and then its not too fun to touch! lol. The cages stink...i just wouldn't use it. I switched over to aspen and I wouldn't ever go back. it's so easy to keep clean...just spot clean then every few months fully change it. I wouldn't go back to astruturf now for anything!
