My Injured King is Getting Better!!!! *PICS*

metalpest Nov 26, 2004 03:20 PM

She escaped some time ago and was found a while back with some bad scratches on her, probably from the 3 cats we have. With some neosporin treatment and few meals, she shed (not very well though, it was in a thousand pieces) and now she looks great. I think she is going to be OK.

Im feeding her small meals, when can I start feeding her bigger meals? Also, should the neosporin continue?

looks fine. i would keep the meals on the smaller side meaning fuzzies as opposed to adults, but w/normal frequency every 5to10days depending on your preferance, and i would keep the neosporin applied to any open areas where the scales&skin have not rejoined, after 5,6 sheds i doubt you will even be able to tell, they are very resilient animals thats for sure congrats again,,,thomas davis

She's only a yearling, so she has been eating pinkies. You can still see them go down, but it doesnt stretch her wounds. She just seems to be starving when I feed her once a week. She doesnt even kill the pinks, just swallows them while they are wiggling around.

Glad to hear your snake is doing fine!! I imagine the worst of the wounds will leave some sort of scarring, but will probably be hard to see. All snakes are different, just like all animals, and heal different. I have a red X eastern that has some old scarring that looks darker than the rest of the body, and a racer that had some very deep wounds that are healing great, but will be visible as scars for the rest of the snakes life I would bet. I would feed her 2 decent sized pinks every 4 or 5 days. As long as she fully digests them, she will do fine. I feed my neonates - yearlings every 4 days with no ill effects. They all do great on this schedule and grow great!
