Hello-
My husband and I bought what the pet store told us was a tree boa. Someone else at the pet store has called it a dwarf on one of our visits for food. It is grey in color with a red tail and we cannot find information on a "red-tail boa" and we are having problems with him.
We have his cage set up with a cool end and a warm end with a heater pad thing. He has a basking lamp for day, and a black warming light for night. He has clumping sand with a small amount of bark, a tree and a hide. He seems content. He is active and alert...but he's not eating. He supposidly ate a hopper the day before we bought him. 3 weeks later, he finally ate a lizard (looked like a salamander type thing). It has been 3 weeks again and he hasn't eaten. Both times we tried pinkies, then fuzzies, then the lizard...this time he's not even eating the darn lizard.
We have a small bucket with lid set up for him to eat outside of his cage, we hide him in a quiet area and leave him be for about 30 minutes. We are beside ourselves because we love this snake and it won't eat. Any suggestions? Is it his habitat? Is it the bucket recommended on some breeding sites? Any other ideas?
Thanks in advance for all help!
