Help! ...Reattaching Undertank Heater?.........what to use?

zhiv9 Jul 01, 2003 02:04 PM

Has anyone tried to reattach a Zoomed or other UTH? What have you used as an adhesive? I have one sized for a 30 gallon that came off when the bottom of the tank cracked.

Thanks for any help

I curren't don't have any of my Zoomed UTH attached at all. I just have them sitting directly on the wire rack under the tank. I don't see any problem to this, if anything, it eliminates hot spots.

Clear silicone works well, but I should mention that I use it to adhere Ultratherm heat pads, and not to re-attach Zoo Meds. I don't see any reason why it won't work, as long as you let it dry with a weight on it overnight. I have had no problems with the silicone being effected by the heat at all, nor have any of my pads detached themselves from the tank.
