Rear-Fanged Snakes

kryptos_herp Nov 26, 2004 09:13 PM

Could anyone tell me if rear-fanged snakes (parrot snakes, mangroves, etc.) are illegal in NJ?

Also: Which amphibian species are prohibited as well?
P.S.
Apologies for the repeated string of posts.

ALL rear fanged snakes are illegal in Jersey. Hognose snakes don't count though. But mangroves, asian vines, etc. are all illegal without an impossible to get permit. Anacondas are illegal and I believe they are moving toward african rock pythons as well. But as far as i know only anacondas for now. Anything in the BCC class I believe (it's either the BCC's or BCI's) doesn't need a permit. So basically the common boa doesn't need a permit. As far as amphibians, nothing endangered or potentialy fatal or harmful to the local populations. You can find a great link on here for the NJHS that gives all the in's and out's of the permits and whatnot.
