Snake temps too low? Is he gonna stop eating?

Hes in a 4 foot cage and has 1/3 of it heated with an under tank heater......Is that enouigh heat it brings a floor temp of 92.....The rest of the cage is 77 usually. How can i raise the temps? He in my basement and i already have a heater down there on high poower what else can i do...I heard it was fine as long as they have at least 75 ambeint and a warm basking spot....

Dude! 77 not good! You need to get the ambient temps to mid/hi 80's. Insulate the cage. I tried heating a room to augment cage temps and it cost me $100 a month extra in electricty. Insulate the cage inside top, outside back and under the bottom. Get a radiant heat panel from Pro Products, Bob will help you. Connect it to a thermostat and it will put your temps where they should be. If you need help, just ask and I'll explain more in depth later.

a heat panel is the way to go in heating burm cages. even if you can get the ambient temps to the low 80's with a basking spot that reaches 90 you'll be fine but that won't be accomplished with a heat pad. Rob Carmichael
