Fourstrings88 Nov 27, 2004 12:50 PM

My first question is really just general to the UV light. How do you know when to change it does it go out or do u just have to have a calender for the 6 months when it is up how d oyou know when its time to get a new bulb?

Also my second question is about my collard itself.Awhile back ago I post about I wart like thing under his neck when he shed it cam right off but it now looks like it is growing back or something like that af first it was faint now it isnt soo faint I was always putting neosporin and it helped a little but not too much any suggestions or anything would be helpful to me and my Collard

i have no idea about the wart thing, i would recommed taking him to a vet.
As for UVB, like if i buy a bulb in march then in september i would purchase a new one. i guess marking it on a calender could not hurt. i have heard of people buying UVB meters but i think that they are kind of expensive. you can usually tell the bulb is working by a blueish tint in the cage. just make sure your lizard is within 12 inches of the bulb or the UVB will be too weak to do much good.

Because of not knowing when my bulb was bad (and several other reasons) my female collared was put to sleep today. She got very ill.

If it loses its purple/blow tint, It's bad. REPLACE IT! Don't make the same mistakes I did!!!!!
