No aggression?

geicogecko Nov 27, 2004 02:17 PM

I have a male iguana (Luna) that is five years old and I've always heard stories about mean male iguanas around their mating season. During Luna's mating season he turns bright orange like most but his temperment does not change. He still eats everyday, he still basks but he is exactly the same as he was before. He has never bitten me or tail whipped me nor has he tried. I've also heard the stories of how the males will get things like socks or stuffed animals and try to mate with them. I have this iguana plushie that is a bit smaller than he is and he shows no interest in it.
I don't know if I should worry about his lack of change during mating season or if it's normal.

If I were you, I would count my blessings and call it "good"! LOL

I wouldn't worry about it. My male iguana doesn't get aggressive either, but he does like to go at it with jeans and stuffed animals. He really didn't even get that way until he was 4, and now that he's 14 going on 15, he seems to be growing out of it. Maybe your iguana is just a late bloomer?
